OLD NEWS
11/15/06
Thanks to everyone who came out to the Rosetta show last week. We almost filled the capacity of the place and it turned out to be one of the best shows I can remember in a long time.
Lots of new pictures up, but they're not plugged in yet, so I apologize to anyone who's gotten all psyched (for whatever weird reason) about seeing thumbs of new photos and then not being able to open them. Sorry. I just haven't gotten around to it. Everything will be up and running by the first week of December, cause after that, I'm outta here for a little while.
Also, I doubt BR#7.5 will be out before then. It will probebly have to wait till Febuary. Till then, if you're dying for something to read, I recomend looking this kid up: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=24232305&MyToken=ea043f02-c60c-4380-94d1-e3f5b0200472
Stay tuned...
10/20-ish '06
There will be a bunch of new pictures added here and there from shows and random goofing around over the summer and fall and late fall.
Also, NONSVCH-Matt and I are bringing ROSETTA from Philly up to Portland on 11/6. Please come ceck it out. Should be a rad show. Click the little flyer below to see the full sized one.
There may also be a BR#7 and a half before December. It will include two stort stories that got reduced to a few sentences in #7 and they were really good, so I thought I'd write out the whole thing. But that will depend on funds. If not December, it'll have to wait till sometime in the spring, and I think if thats the case, BR#8 won't be far behind it. Either way, #7 and a 1/2 will be significantly smaller then recent issues have been, and will have a much smaller print run. If you want one , send $2 to the address in the update below, and you'll get it whenever it's ready. And there are still plenty of copies of BR#7. If you'd like one, read the the update below.

August 2006
BR number SEVEN is DONE....
Yes, it is finily done. Almost a fucking
year in the making, but it is done and it is the best one yet.
In this 60 page issue, there is a huge section covering numerous trips riding
freight trains all over the U$A and back, during which there are live show
reviews of Nile, Kreator, Napalm Death, Buried Inside, Opeth, Pelican, Deicide,
Vital Remains (w/ Glen), Animosity, Skinless, Rosetta and many more. There
is also a piece written by Owen Curtsinger traveling throughout China (a
bit too close to the North Korean border), an interview with Ryan from ENGORGED,
music reviews, zine reviews all sort of thoughts about how weird life can
be and a ton more.
It's pretty rad...
To get a copy, send $3 (U$D's or foriegn) to the NEW MAILING
ADDRESS below. Hidden cash, check and money orders are all excepted
but if you are paying with foriegn currency, please only send hidden cash.
I'm also willing to do trades, or if you know where the free ones get left
out, have at it.

Well well... It's been a while I guess. All sorts of things to talk about. For the moment, I guess it's worth noting that I'm back in Maine, and not to be negative but the wheather blows. I suppose I can't complain though, not having seen rain more than twice since December.
I have updated the site quite a bit in the past week or so, adding many photos to the "trains..." section, as well as a few to the "people" section. There were also some new photos added to the "bands" section as well, however keep in mind that every photo I've taken since October was with a disposable camera, so you'll see how those taken in dark rooms with very boring flash settings turn out. Better then I expected though.
The other big thing to note is that Bogus Rendition # 7 is taking shape. I hope to have it printed and start circulation around the end of June, perhaps early July. We'll see. If there are still bands out there that want reviews, this is pretty much the last call for submissions, otherwise, #8 will probably be along in the fall.
As of right now, # 7 looks like
it will have live show reviews of the Nile/Hypocrisy tour, Buried Inside,
Opeth w/ Dark Tranquility, Kreator w/ Napalm Death, Six Feet Under w/ Job
for a Cowboy/Sworn Enemy and Animosity, as well as the Arizona Metal Devistation
Fest with Deicide, Vital Remains (w/ Glen on vox), Gorgasm and many more.
There will also be a huge section covering numerous trips riding freight
trains all over the U$A and back, reviews of whatever music gets submitted
and probebly a ton more. We'll see...
Oh... one more thing. BR#666 was reviewed in Metal Maniacs: Zine + Not Heard. This made the 3rd time in less then a year that BR graced (or soured) that colum. Thank you Kevin Stewart Panko once again for another awesome review.
For now, enjoy the new pictures...
Thanks for stopping by...

and a shit load of other stuff…
Send $2 (check, money order or hidden cash) to the address below for a copy.
Also, if you broke (or fucked up) your
nose at the Black Dahlia Murder show at the Palladium on 9/24 and are wondering
where that picture is... click the thumbnail:
For anyone wondering why I never posted any pictures from that show, it is because for the most part, they sucked. My flash bulb blew out this summer and I hadn't (still haven't) fixed it.
Other then that, this will probably be the last update untill some time in the spring. Maine, although not the worst place, is still a very shitty place to be most seasons, especially winter, and I have personally had enough. I'll be out and about somewhere between North Carolina and San Diago for the winter (keep in mind that there will be someone here to take care of orders for the zine coming in).
I'll have copies (or copying copies) of the zine with me, so if by chance you run into me, don't be afraid to ask for one (keep in mind that this will be the last FREE issue for awhile. Not the "last issue," but the last free issue. There are way too many zines out there of the same format and much shittier quality and content that run between $5-10).
I will be checking email and the myspace page here and there, so please feel free to send feed back, as well as stuff to be reviewed (the snail mail address for the zine will stay the same until further notice).
Thats it for now. Till next time,

BR#666 is just about finished. Looks like all the printing, mailing and distro is all gonna be done before Halloween.
The band deadhole from Augusta, ME (who's singer I interviewed in BR#5) has been signed to AcidVictim Records down in Clermont Florida. Keep yer eye's open for their demo "curse of the ghoul" in November.
And the pictures from the train trip this summer are up. Most are of Trampfest, but there are plenty others as well. Hopefully there'll be a few more before long, as well as a few from that Black Dahlia Murder show a feek weeks ago (like I said, most of those came out pretty shitty, but still).
Thats it for now, other than that anyone who wants a copy of BR#666 can send $2 check, money order or well hidden cash to cover shipping to:

Mid October
Well god-damn... I guess it's been a little while. But I'm back and there will be all sorts of new shit coming along shortly. There'll be about 200 new photos in the... uh... "photo's" section. Tons of Trampfest 2005, a few from the Black Dahlia Murder show in Worcester a few weeks ago (most of those came out pretty shitty) and a few which I can't remember. Hopefully at least the pix of Trampfest will be up in a few days. What else?
Ah yes! Bogus Rendition #5 was featured AGAIN in Metal Maniacs: Zine Not Heard, in the issue that had Opeth on the cover. I thought that was pretty sweet.
And I guess most important of ALL, as you probably noticed on the entry page (or whatever it's called) that Bogus Rendition #666 is on it's way. Anyone who wants a copy (this ones gonna be pretty fucking rad) can send me $2 and I'll mail you a copy when it's printed, or you can hope to find one of the free copies if you know where they are. Once again I will say that this zine comes entirely from my own funds and can be a pain in the ass to try and pay for. To anyone who wants to make a donation or buy some ad space and help keep this thing free, I'd be very grateful.
Till whenever, rockinfuckinroll \m/
4th of July
Okay, so this is the last update for a while. I'm taking off for a while and don't really plan on coming back till the fall. The site isn't going anywhere so you can still come and check it out all you like.
Anyone who is looking for a copy of BR#5, the free ones are probebly all gone by now, so what you gotta do is send $2 welll hidden cash (preferred), check or money order to:

To all the bands and labels, please feel free to continue sending material to be reviewed. BR#6 is schedualed for some time in the fall and it'll hopefully be even bigger then #5 was.
Thanks to everyone thats helped out with this little project so far. It has been a blast and this is only the begining...
June30th
Sounds of the Underground was a big old cluster fuck. Cool but at the same time disgusting to see what a disgrace that bunch of bands have been brought into. It was cool though non the less, and there are a bunch of really cool pix of LOG, Unearth and Opeth up in the band photo's section.
June23rd
Bogus Rendition is featured in the new issue of METAL MANIACS in "zine not heard." Hell fucking yeah!!! Even though the guy that wrote the review obviously barely even glanced at #5 given that he claims there aren't any interviews even though there are three of them (Opeth, Cephalic Carnage and deadhole) and also seemed to miss the fact that theres a ton of non music stuff in there. Whatever. Click the thumb nail below to view and while you're at it, check out their new issue cause it's pretty sweet. http://www.metalmaniacs.com/
June14th
Most of the new interviews are up in the interview section which you will find if you click on "words." Thanks to Brian Rocha of Adreniline PR for hooking me up with all those.
BR#5 is out there. The big trip to the post office was last Friday, so if you live near Philly, check out the Relapse Retail Store. For Providence, check Armaggedon Shop. For Maine and NH, most of the Bull Moose Music stores have a stack, along with Newbury Comics in South Portland, Condom Sense in the Old Port, Granny's Burrito's right up the street, the Kave up in Bucksport and Bombshell Tattoo. Get 'em for free while they last. If yer too late, drop $2 (well hidden cash is preffered but checks or money orders are cool too) in the mail to:

Number 5 is definatly
the best one yet and is also the biggest (60 pages).

Pix of the train trip I went on last week are up in the train/photo section. Also the cover for BR#5 is up in the "other/photo" section. Enjoy!
May30th
So there have been some shows since the last update. Still haven't gotten pix from the Yob show and the Lair of the Minotaur/Ocean show, but I will soon. And when they are done, I'll put them up here, along with pix from the little train hopping trip that I took last week and a bunch of other cool shit. Also, I've been doing some interviews (well one so far, but have a bunch of others planed). I don't know where they will live permanetly, but for now you can go here to read the first one which was with Peter from Opeth. Coming soon will be interviews with: Randy from Lamb of God, the Black Dahlia Murder, Fredy from Madball, Guy from the Red Chord and possibly one with Terror. Thanks for stoping by and rock'n roll! \m/
May14th
Well god-damn, there are a shit load of new pix up in the bands section. I went to three shows this week: Cephalic Carnage @ the Middle East, Terror up at the Kave and Mastodon down in Woostah'. Pix from that Shadows Fall show at the Station last week (when the ceiling got ripped down) are up, as are the pix from Gator's benifit show at the Kave.
BR#5 is about 60-75% finished as of right now. It's already the biggist one yet and I'm damn proud of it. There will be at least 40 pages this time, and again, it will be free. Keep an eye out for if mid-late June.
Below is a photo I took on the way down to the Palladium the other day, of the most fucked up auto actcident I've ever seen. Aparently, the driver of the truck lived, by jumping from his cab (while on fire mind you), 60ft into the river below. I wonder if he had an out of body experience or something. Can you imagine being on fire and making that descision in your mind to jump? Anywho... Thanks for stopping by!

May7th
Went to a couple of shows this week. Screams of Erida, Burn in Silence, Over the Top, Inbound and a few others, up at the Kave. The show was a benefit for Chad "Gator" from Lewiston, who was in a very terrible car crash almost two months ago, barely surviving. The funds raised were roughly $580, and will go towards helping Chad and his family with medical bills.
Last night, I saw Shadows Fall for the 24th time, along with Terror, Zao and Cephalic Carnage. Despite the numerous sound problems through out the night, it was a great show. Lots of energy all night, especially for Shads and Terror, and during Shads, the ceiling was ripped down, and wires went everywhere. It was stupid, but it was fucking awesome at the same time. Pictures will be up pretty soon. For now, if you want a look at the chaos, check out http://www.returntothepit.com/concert.php?date=2005-05-06&band=shadows_fall. Thanks for stopping by...
April 26th
Distro for BR#4 has been going awesome. I printed just over 500 copies this time and they're almost all gone. New England Metal Fest was this past weekend, and pictures from Sunday are up. Nile played the best set I've ever seen them play. The new songs are amazing and the new line up is just as good, if not better then the one on "In Their Darkened Shrines." I didn't take any pictures on Saturday. You can also check out pictures of Bury Your Dead, the Red Chord and Inbound at the Kave from Friday. Thanks for stopping by! Time for me to go to bed... zzzzZZZZzzzzzz........ZZZzzzzzzz
April 11th
Bogus Rendition#4 is finished, printed and a bunch have already been mailed out. Yeah that was pretty quick I guess, seeing how it wasn't scedualed to be done till May. Well whatever. I had more then enough material, so I threw the damn thing together and I think it came out lookin pretty sweet. So go find one. It's free. And if you can't find one, let me know, and we can talk.
Pictures from the Kreator/ Vader show upstairs at the Palladium are up. They came out pretty good I guess. Well, I know that they are "good," by I think they coulda been better. I'm kinda weird like that. Whatever.
There are also some new reviews in the review section.
Thats it for now. Thanks for stoppin by...
April 6th
Kreator last night was awesome. So was Vader. Only thing that could'a made it a better show would have been nile playing after Kreator and Goatwhore and Amon Amarth playing before Vader. Even though that happened fall 2003, and it was downstairs. Anyways, great show, and pix will be up soon.
Pix from Cryptopsy at the Kave are up. For the most part, I think they suck, but I'm really picky about most photos I take. They're good, but not great.
Also, there are a few new album reviews up in the review section. Enjoy.
April 5th
Cryptopsy at the Kave rocked. Kreator and Vader tonight at the Palladium will probebly rock. It's the last show review for BR#4, and then it'll be finished, in time for Metal Fest. Rockn'Roll...
March27th
Today is the day that Easter Island was "discovered" by the "civilized" world. I believe today is also the day that Jesus arose from the dead. I personally think that Chritianity is a joke, but I'm sure that if he existed, Jesus was a great man and what-not. My favorite theory about what REALLY happen back in the day, is one my friend Nico from Santiago CL told me about. It goes like this: On the day that he rose out of the ground, he took a look around. He saw how fucked up his followers were and how much they'd missed the point of all his teachings, and he was like, "fuck you guys," and took of to the east, and has been living in India as a sadhu ever since.
Like I said, I don't really care for Christianity, or ANY riligeon for that matter, but thought that little theory was cool. I bet if I'd been in the "son of god's" sandel's, I'd have done something like that.
Anyways, moving on to more important issues at hand, the pix from the Amorphis/Beyond the Embrace show last week are up in the "bands" section. They're pretty good, but not fabulous.
There are also a few new band links and other links to various places that I felt like putting up.
I think thats it for now. Rock on...
March24th
There are a few new CD reviews up in the review section for #4, even though I don't have a cover put together for it yet. Many more to come soon. The fucked up thing is that I already have enough material to put out #4, and #3 was printed barely a week ago. Thanks to Matt Dionne of DFJ for hooking me up with all those CDs. I don't have to worry about finding anything on Century Media or Nuclear Blast for a looooooong time.
And I'm not going to put them up tonight, but I got pix back from the Amorphis, Beyond the Embrace, Into Eternity, Single Bullet Theory show at the Palladium last Saturday. They came out pretty cool for the most part. Thanks to Michelle from Metal Blade Records for getting me on the list for that.
I was on one of the docks at work the other day (I work at a BIG food warehouse) and I saw more pallets of strawberries then I've ever seen come into that place. I think the reason that Hannaford (the supermarket menopoly of New England) has been selling so many strawberries lately is cause everyones so fucking depressed from the winter, and for me, strawberries remind me of summer. Well, I guess it's all part of the package of living up here. But sure enough, the days are getting longer, a bit warmer and trains all calling. Won't be long now...
And for anyone who for some weird reason was wondering, I didn't get fired.
March21st
So I think I'm probebly fired from my job. If I am, well, I guess 4 and a half years on and off at pretty much the most efficient, tight-ass, highest time standard Warehouse in the Northeast should look fairly addiquit on a resume, even if I did get fired in the end. The average life span for that place is something like 2 or 3 months. Lalala... Memorys of selecting. I am gonna miss it in a really stupid way. And if I'm not fired, well then, I guess I'll find out on Thursday. I have to go get my book on India that I left in the cafeteria anyways. Very close to quiting non the less.
Not that anyone cares about any of the above, but I thought I'd bore the few people who end up reading it a bit.
10 new pix of Portland based doom metal band, Ocean, are up in their section under bands. They are from the set they played last Friday at the Ale House. There are more to come in the next day or 2. Also, there are a bunch of new pix of Screams of Erida from the show a few weeks ago up at the Kave. I'd temporarily "mis-placed" them.
In other interesting news, there is a new photo page in the "bands" section of all the pix I took in Lowel last week of Slipknot, lamb of god, and Shadows Fall. I think they came out okay for the most part. Especially given that they were taken from the crowd, which was a joke. I think that trying to shot slipknot's set takes the cake as "most difficult show to shot ever," de-throning the Red Chords set from Hellfest 2003. Of course the only reason I bothered to try was due to a matter of princibal. Kinda my own little bit of satisfaction after all the shit we went through w/ SMG security that night. And you know what? After all the fuss they put up about keeping people away from the bands, we still never entered through the front door, never got our tickets scaned, and I never had my back pack searched. Although it did contain a camera, it very well could have had a gun or bomb or anything. Fabulous job SMG security.
Thats it for now. Thanks for stopping by. Go listen to some Fleshgrind or something. Rock on...
March16th
Wow. Last night is going in the records books as probebly the biggest cluster-fuck of nonsense at a show I can remember. I'll be writing a big long boring editorial on this later, but for now, I will say the SMG security at the Tsongas Arena in Lowel MA is the MOST un-professional, un-pleasant, and over all biggest bunch of jerks I have EVER experienced from a security company working a show of ANY size. I'd like to thank the 3 employee's of the Tsungas Arena who were working the East entrance, for just doing their job the way they are supposed to, and doing it with a smile.
All that said, Bogus Rendition #3 is done, and printed, and there are more copies being printed today. The big post office run will be today if I keep my shit together.
That said, there will be pictures of last nights show up of the site in about a week. A big negative agknoledgement goes out to Roadrunner Records and Slipknot for just overall being a pain in the ass last night about the photo policy. Thanks to Chris, Randy, Willy and the rest of the Lamb of God crew as always for helping us out the best you could, and just being as cool as ever. Thank you gentlemen. Y'all git back up this way soon.
Thats it for now. Rock'n Fuck'n Roll!
March 9
Yet another snow storm last night. This was a particularly brutal one, and my car didn't survive, or appears not to have for the moment. The damn thing just died out there. Fortunately I was only about a quarter mile from an old friends house who let me spend the night.
That said, there are some new additions in the merch section (hint), which I am pretty happy with. Starting to get the hang of making patchs that actually look good. Shirts are next.
Anyone who'd been planning on going to the "Mosh for Charity" show w/ Amaranthus and a bunch of other bands up at the Kave in Bucksport, it has been cancelled due to the shitty wheather forcast. Matt from Backlash Productions will be schedualing a make-up date in the near future.
One more show to cover this weekend (Conifer), a few more CD's to review (if they arrive soon enough, if not they'll be in #4) and then I'm going to start printing Bogus Rendition #3. Definately the biggest yet, and I'm very proud of it. Please email me if you'd like to be added to the mailing list.
Other then that, please keep sending stuff to be reviewed, please buy a patch or two or three (I'm going to be very broke very soon), thanks for stoping by, and rock on!
March 7
Bunch of new picture's are up. Also a "best of" section for those that just want to view, well, the best pictures on here. The pictures from the Red Chord show last week that I took blew. I may put a few up tomorow just for the hell of it. They'll be in Bogus Rendition #3 which I'm going to start printing next week either way. Also a few new reviews are in the review section. Thanks to everyone who's been sending me stuff to review. That's it for now I beleave, other than that I've been on another Cephalic Carnage/ Nile binge for the past few days. Thanks for stopping by, and rock on...
March 1
Another snow storm. YES! Anywho, great show last night at the Aviary (or whatever the place is called) in Dover NH. It was the Red Chord and a couple others playing at this kids house. And then after that they played a set on 91.3 WUNH for Return to the Pit. I sat at the rest area in Kennebunk for almost 2 hours given that that was the northern limit for WUNH reception. Photos from the Aviary show will be up in a few days. For now, there are a bunch of new band pix up from shows spanning the last week and a half or so. Bogus Rendition #3 is about 3/4's finished, and is lookin pretty rad so far. I think it'll even be out on time. Keep you're eye's peeled, and email me if you want a copy when it's ready. Thanks for stopping by and rock on!
Febuary 21
Pretty rockin weekend with two Cattle Decapitation shows, the joys that wisdom teeth can bring, a bit of driving, and a bunch of new pix which will up in the next few days, or something like that... For now, "Haunted Patagonia" is up in the Chile/ARG section. Anyone viewing the "stuff that black metal bands always use" may wanna check those out too. Time to go to bed.
Febuary 9
Shit-loads of new photos are up in just about every single catagory. Too much time spent sitting in front of this fucking thing. Twisted Sister is stuck in my head. Maybe thats a sign?
Febuary 7
Okay, reviews are working.
2/7 earlier
The CD reviews have been organized, and it seems they don't feel like working. Computers suck. Oh well. I'll go dig for them and it should be fixed in a bit. For now, there are a few new pix up in the "trains" section, as well as a really bad-ass photo of Incantation under "bands." There are also several new links which I can't think of off the top of my head. Last and with out a doubt least (given that anyone reading this is already here), Bogus Rendition now has a page on myspace.com. It does not contain anything that insn't already here, it's just a press-kit looking thing to get the name out there a little more. Anywho, till next time, thanks for stoppin by, and rock n' roll!
Febuary 1
So, if you look to the left, there is a new button in the main menu for CD reviews. It currently contains one page that has every CD review written for the zine so far. Right now they aren't even in alphabetical order, but they will all be organized soon.
There are also about 30-something new pix up in the photo section. Mostly scans of old art work, and a few band pictures. I've got some new links to add too over the next few days.
Till next time, thanks for stopping by, and rock on!
January 31
Just a few things. Bogus Rendition #3 should be out and about mid-March. CD reviews that I write for the zine will end up having a little section of their own on this site at some point. I still haven't decided if I will be posting all the writen content on here or not. It would kinda defeat the purpose of the zine in a way, and I like making the paper zine. I don't care for computers all that much, but they are such an amazing tool when it comes to comunication that they are hard to pass up when they're right in front of you for free. We'll see. This is all still a relatively new process for me, so who knows...
What else? Been working on more patches. I got sick of those shitty spray paint stencil ones, so I've been doing iron-on stuff, but those kinda suck too. Gonna do some silk screening next. Eventually there'll be shirts with that "Predator skull pirate flag" on them. And when they're done, they'll be up in the merch section.
And Tayo, if you're out there reading this, and are somewhere in Southern Maine tonight or in the next couple days, gimme a call, god damn-it! We can go paint trains or something! It hit over 30 degree's today. It's a fucking heat wave!

So my eye's are about to pop out, "Radar Love" is stuck in my head, and this site is finily up. All photos should work, all link's I believe are plugged in, etc, etc. Enjoy the site and please send feed-back if you have any.
As far as the actual zine goes, there are still copies of Bogus Rendition #2 floating around, and if you can't find any, please drop me a line and we can talk.
And I was gonna be taking off for San Juan PR on Friday to check out Shadows Fall for the zillionth time, only in Puerto Rico. But, the show got cancelled. So, that means that Bogus Rendition #3 will be kicking around sooner then expected. Keep your eye's open for mid March. Plenty of good shows at the Worcester Palladium to fill the thing up.
There will be a few more various photos getting put up over the next few days, but for now, most are up.
So until next time, enjoy the site, thanks for stoppin by, and rock on!
